    Samsung SyncMaster BX2450L

About a month ago I received a new monitor as a gift from my parents, the only specifications I asked was that it had an LED screen, at least 21 inches and to be 1080P.  I wanted this monitor mainly for my PlayStation 3, as I have no actual TV, so I wanted a screen of decent size and obviously HD gaming is much superior then regular quality.  I went for LED over LCD because it gives a much nicer, brighter, and more crisp picture, and as I use it for 80% gaming I really wanted it.

The first thing I noticed about this monitor is that 23.6″ is a lot larger than I had thought seeing it on a shelf and on my desk was completely different.  It is a great size for both a computer screen and a gaming screen.  The monitor is an inch thick and stands roughly 3 and a half inches off of the ground.

The second thing I noticed was that there are no buttons which has its ups and downs.  Instead of classic buttons along the bottom there are 6 sections of plastic each labeled and you simply have to touch the section and the monitor will react.  There are some pros and cons to this style.  Pros are simple, it looks really nice, the buttons are fairly sensitive and easy to use and navigate, and they are also easy to use quickly.  There are a couple cons to this style though, it can be easy to hit to far to either the left or right of it either having you hit a different command or nothing at all, which could get frustrating, you may hit one of the commands by accident which could mess you up if you’re working on something.  Also, though I have no proof, I would imagine that after enough time goes by the sensitivity of the buttons will most likely decrease, but so far nothing seems to be wrong at all with them, and I quite enjoy the way you interact.

Now after getting the monitor set up I hooked my PlayStation into the first HDMI port, and the image quality was right away noticeable, the image was so bright and crisp with every detail, it was really surprising how good it actually was.  After I hooked up my laptop to the screen with the analog input and it was still quite amazing to use the brightness of everything was unbelievable.

Overall I am very pleased with the way the monitor has been, it hasn’t done anything out of the ordinary, and in my opinion the image is absolutely beautiful, I would highly recommend it to anyone.  There are very few flaws with this monitor, it doesn’t get hot, it’s not hard on the eyes, and like I’ve said before, its display is wonderful.
